Founded in 2007, the Institute for the Development of Educational Assessment (IDEE) brings together educators and researchers in the field of educational sciences, with extensive experience in designing educational programs, assessment, and curriculum development. The association’s goal is to build a professional community capable of creating effective mechanisms to improve the quality of the pre-university education system.

One of the key events organized by IDEE is the International Conference Teachers for a Knowledge-Based Society (www.conference2023.masterprof.ro).
At its six previous editions, keynote speeches were delivered by distinguished figures in education: Howard Gardner (Harvard University); Pieter de Vries and Wim Veen (Delft University of Technology, Netherlands); Inés Maria Gómez-Chacón (University of Madrid, Spain); Attila Szabo (Stockholm University, Sweden); Jean-Claude Ruano Borbalan (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, Paris); Eugenio Gonzales (Center for Global Assessments, ETS Research & Development Division); Roza Leikin (University of Haifa); Basarab Nicolescu and Solomon Marcus (Romanian Academy), among many others.

Another important event organized and hosted by IDEE is the National Conference: Tradition and Creativity in School, which has held four editions and resulted in the publication of volumes compiling the contributions of participating teachers.

IDEE has implemented several projects—both local and wider in scope—focused on improving the quality of education. The most recent of these include:

Open Our School to All Children!
Implemented between 2019 and 2021 and funded through the EEA Grants 2014–2021, under projects for the inclusion of Roma children in education, this project aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of schools in Argeș and Dolj counties to provide effective inclusion and quality education for Roma pupils, alongside all children.

Quality Education for Our Children’s Future in Dolj County
Implemented from 2018 to 2021, this project aimed to promote equal access to education, reduce and prevent early school leaving, enhance access to pre-school and school education, and reduce school segregation in Dolj County.

Let’s Discover the Treasure of the Romanian Language Together!
In the autumn of 2022, this project—a reading-based educational program for Romanian children in Italy—was implemented to support the preservation and promotion of the Romanian linguistic identity among children living in the Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia regions.

Since 2021, IDEE has been a partner in the ERASMUS+ project STEAME Goes Hybrid: Blueprint Guidelines and Policy Recommendations (www.steame-hybrid.eu), alongside colleagues from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Poland. The project’s main objective is to develop innovative learning practices for the digital age through new teaching and training technologies and methodologies.

In 2023, IDEE launched a new ERASMUS+ project: STEAME Teacher Facilitators Academy (www.steame-academy.eu).
This project contributes to the creation of a model for a European Federation connecting local STEAME Teacher Facilitator Academies. These academies bring together facilitator-teachers, future professionals, and learning experts as key actors in developing young people’s skills in STEAME fields.
