STEAME GOES HYBRID – Guidelines and Policy Recommendations

The European project STEAME GOES HYBRID is approved and co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ KA2 programme, with an implementation period of two years (May 2021 – April 2023).
Its objective is to design and develop STEAME schools. STEAME stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Entrepreneurship. STEAME schools can be regarded as the schools of the future, aiming to transform knowledge into skills and competencies through new structures, infrastructures, and activities aligned with the current requirements of the education system and the labour market.
In the context of the digital era in which we live, the STEAME GOES HYBRID project seeks to develop innovative learning practices by means of new teaching and training methods, transferring STEAME activities from the traditional classroom to online and distance environments, thereby achieving a blended learning approach (a combination of in-person and online instruction). It is crucial for teachers to be aware of emerging changes, to adapt, and to develop a vision based on cooperation and progress, responding to the needs of today’s learners as well as those of future generations.
Thus, the development of a new educational model that addresses both student needs and the demands of contemporary society contributes to moving away from traditional learning systems and embracing a new generation of digitally enhanced systems, continually improved through artificial intelligence components.
The STEAME GOES HYBRID project aims to achieve the following results:
- The development of models for hybrid STEAME activities (project-based online and distance learning);
- The creation of a Teacher Training Programme aimed at facilitating the implementation of the STEAME strategy for learning and creativity;
- The establishment of a certification mechanism for STEAME HYBRID schools and the formulation of recommendations for educational policy.
The valorisation of the project outcomes will contribute to the creation of hybrid teaching and learning methods within the STEAME framework, using innovative and digitally based approaches, and will provide digital solutions adapted to both current and future infrastructures, including tools for hybrid instruction. The resources developed throughout the project will support teachers and students in engaging with project-based STEAME activities in online and remote settings, through blended learning methods that will enhance digital technology and communication skills. Furthermore, they will support the promotion of emerging technologies, including the use of cloud computing and safe navigation in cyberspace.
